The Mighty Oak Tree Foundation is located in Fang, a district in the Chiang Mai province of Northern Thailand. This area is made up of a variety of ethnic groups. In a landscape of breath-taking natural beauty, it is also a region where there is a high incidence of poverty, and very high incidence of children destined for child prostitution, HIV and AIDS. The Mighty Oak Tree (MOT) foundation, works closely with teachers, Christian pastors and workers to identify children and families most at risk. They receive any applications for consideration of acceptance as well as any other aid that is required. The staff in Fang have developed a well respected relationship with the community. They can often be found aiding in the various development projects sponsored by the foundation. Teams can serve side by side with the MOT staff and the Good News Church of Fang in a variety of different ministries:
- Minister to the MOT sponsored students: With over One Hundred sponsored students, teams can spend time with our youth groups on Sundays, playing games, teaching and loving on our students.
- MOT Agape home: The MOT foundation runs a small dormitory in the city of Fang for students that are having problems staying in School because of financial problems. The Agape home currently hosts six teenage girls from various ethnic backgrounds. Teams and volunteers can spend time serving at the Agape home equipping these young women with the love of Christ during their time in Fang.
- Development Projects & Relief Work: For teams that enjoy being outdoors and development, the MOT foundation is always looking to put in different development projects at our sponsored families homes and in the nearby hill tribes, in the past the foundation has built homes, cement fish & frog tanks, chicken coops, pig pens and more which helps families to become more self sustaining at home.
- Hill tribe outreach: The MOT foundation also partners with local hill tribes and offer teams the opportunity to spend time serving and outreaching in the local hill tribes, usually scheduled in the evenings after locals start to come back home from work, teams can perform dances, dramas, sing songs, teach and pray for those in the tribes. And for those up for more of an adventure, teams can spend the night up in the local hill tribe with MOT staff, getting a real feel for how life is up in the tribes, and getting to eat, sleep and speak with the locals.
- Church ministry: The MOT foundation staff attends a local church where teams have the opportunity to preach, lead worship, perform dramas, dances, and more with those at the Good News Church of Fang. Small groups can be attended throughout the week along with ministries with our youth group Sunday afternoon. The Good News Church also is involved in the local prison here in Fang and teams have the opportunity to serve together with members from the church as well.
- OTHER: Teams can also have the chance to serve in local schools that our foundation has been building relationships with over the years, teaching English to students and sharing the love of Jesus Christ.
Come to Fang and serve with us at the MOT foundation TODAY! And together we can watch the Lord build up the next generation that will be on fire for the LORD!
