The Changed Life Center and Khmu Student Center – Chiang Khong, Chiang Rai Province
*** Suggested time frame 3-4 weeks
The Changed Life Center (CLC) is a training and discipleship center for future church leaders, particularly Thai and Khmu leaders. And they LOVE hosting teams and having teams come alongside them to serve the Lord together. It is also the home of the Khmu Student Center where young people come to live while continuing their education. Many have come to Christ since moving to the center, and are being equipped to serve God in their village churches. The students stay at the Center from Monday to Friday and then go back home to their family in their villages on the weekend. There are no “highschools” in their Khmu Villages.
The CLC is located in Chiang Rai province in northern Thailand along the banks of the Mekong River. It is around 11-12 hours on the over night bus to Chiang Khong from BKK or about 1.5 hours to fly to Chiang Rai city. Its purpose is to provide a training center for current and future leaders amongst indigenous people groups, and reaching out with the Good News of the gospel to people of all ethnicities.
Teams going to the CLC will enjoy the incredible beauty of the surrounding countryside with all the hills, valleys, mountains and rivers. They will also enjoy tons of great ministry opportunities such as: partnering with local Thai and Khmu churches and villages, teaching English in local grade schools and high schools, doing evangelism, kids clubs, VBS camps, sharing testimonies in many different settings, prayer walking, bible studies, worship times, service projects as well as doing games and special activities with the Khmu students that live at the Center. Teams will stay in the comfortable dorm rooms situated on site, as well as enjoy using the multi-purpose room/worship center for large indoor games and activities. There is also a huge soccer pitch, green space for doing large outdoor activities as well along with a Fire Pit and volleyball court. Teams can also enjoy times worshiping and praying on nearby Prayer Mountain with stunning views of the Mekong River, Laos and all the Khmer villages down below.
