YWAM Borders welcomes you to Mae Sai, a town that is an amazing melting pot of unreached peoples, religions, cultures and languages. To an area that is most known for border crossings, pirated electronics and trafficking you will be able to let your light shine. Being in a location that is so close to so many countries makes it such a beautiful, strategic place to reach out to the Burmese, Chinese and surrounding hill tribes peoples that now call Mae Sai home. There are many peoples who have yet to hear the Gospel and we feel called to reach out to them. We have opportunities to help with kids homes and ministries that help with trafficking prevention. Your team will have many opportunities for ministry such as visiting the surrounding communities in Mae Sai, teaching English, evangelism, playing sports, helping churches and sharing your personal story of God’s goodness and faithfulness – and of course, sharing the Good News with those who have yet to hear! It is a great place for teams that have a heart for the unreached (or a desire to learn), for sports, for English teaching, for medical, kids, for children at risk and evangelism. Also depending on the situation with the government, and the needs inside of Myanmar, sometimes there may be opportunities to help across the border. NOTE: at this time teams are required to have a government issued guide for Kengtung, Myanmar. There is also sometimes opportunities to take a three hour car ride from the most northern point in Thailand (Mae Sai) will take you into Myanmar and to a little town called Kengtung (pronounced Chen-toong). Small teams are usually the best and direct work inside the churches is typically restricted to Sundays. However, there are many opportunities for personal one-on-one times and establishing friendships with the Burmese people. The local people love to sit, talk and drink tea while practicing their English with foreigners. YWAM Borders is a place of beauty and adventure and doors are opening. Come and see!
